Our Projects
Work created and produced by Original Pictures includes the drama series Falcon Beach for ABC Family and Global TV in Canada. Fremantle International Distribution has sold the show in more than 135 territories. The television movie A Bear Named Winnie, a co-production between OP and Power Television of the UK, won a Crystal Heart at the Heartland Film Festival in the United States and captured the biggest drama audience of the year for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
A Bear Named Winnie
The two hour movie produced with Power TV of the UK for CBC won a Crystal Heart Award at the 2005 Heartland Film Festival and received four Gemini nominations. The story of Lieutenant Harry Colebourn (played by Michael Fassbender) a Winnipeg veterinary soldier in the First World War who buys the bear cub which is to become the source for the Winnie the Pooh stories by A.A. Milne. This movie aired on CBC in December 2004 to 1.4 million viewers, one of the best audiences of the year or since.
The Shields Stories
Produced with Shaftesbury Films and aired on Bravo in 2004. This is a dramatic anthology of six half-hour episodes based on short stories by the award-winning Canadian/American author Carol Shields. Nominated for five Gemini awards.
Starring: Sheila McCarthy, Patrick McKena, Robin Brule, Sarah Botsford, Rebecca Jenkins and many others.
Murder 19C: Detective Murdoch Mysteries "Except the Dying"
One of two two-hour, Gemini nominated movies produced with Shaftesbury Films for Bravo, distributed internationally by Portman Film, from the novels of Maureen Jennings. Except The Dying aired on Bravo in May 2004 introducing Detective Murdoch, a 19th century policeman using science to solve crimes. Richard Zeppieri won a Gemini for best supporting actor.

Murder 19C: Detective Murdoch Mysteries "Poor Tom Is Cold"
The Gemini nominated TV movie aired on Bravo In September 2004. Murdoch, a catholic cop in a protestant force investigates the apparent suicide of a young friend and protégé, using fingerprints to prove his case.

The Atwood Stories
The first of the Gemini nominated anthology series taken from Canadian authors – a dramatic anthology of six stories from Margaret Atwood aired on Bravo in 2003, again produced with Shaftesbury Films.
Starring: Christian Campbell, Brigette Bako, David Sutcliffe, Jonathan Scarfe, Peter Wingfield and many others. Craig Sandells won a Gemini for best production design.
The Many Trials of One Jane Doe
Produced with Indian Grove Productions, distributed by Muse Entertainment, aired on CBC in 2003 and won four Gemini awards. Based on a true story, The Many Trials of One Jane Doe is about an extraordinary woman, who, after a traumatizing rape, refuses to remain a victim and sues the police for failing to warn or protect her.
